Sickle cell disease is one of the most common inherited blood disorders worldwide and disproportionately impacts Black communities. While significant advances have been made in research, treatment, and care, barriers to access, awareness, and health equity still exist.
The NMA remains committed to advocating for improved access to quality care, expanding research opportunities, increasing awareness, and supporting policies that improve outcomes for those living with sickle cell disease.
On this World Sickle Cell Day, we encourage everyone to learn more, raise awareness, support affected families, and join us in advancing health equity and better outcomes for all.
Together, we can help ensure that every person living with sickle cell disease has access to the care, resources, and support they deserve.
