Modern treatment cures Pee Dee siblings from sickle cell

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — Two Pee Dee siblings are officially cured of sickle cell disease after more than a decade of living with the genetic blood disorder.

Ashanti and Dontrell Pickens underwent separate medical treatments, including a bone marrow transplant and gene therapy, to end years of severe pain and frequent hospitalizations.
