Why I Started Nike Opalemo Sickle Cell Foundation !
I didn’t start this foundation because I read about sickle cell in a book.
I started it because I live it.
I am a sicklecell warrior myself. I know the pain that comes without warning.
I know the hospital visits, the fear, the strength it takes to smile when your body is fighting you.
I know what it feels like to be misunderstood, judged, or reduced to a diagnosis.
I also know what it feels like to be let down by a system that is not built to support warriors like us.
