Buffalo boy's journey with sickle cell disease inspires foundation to help others

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kaden Williams is always on the move.

"Basketball and football ... we get a lot of practice. Sometimes we have fun," the 10-year-old said.

But what people don’t know from looking at him is that he was born with Hemoglobin SS (HbSS), or sickle cell anemia

"He has a busy life, but I love it. A lot of people are happy to see it because when they see Kaden and you tell his story, they say, 'him? No. You're kidding me.' And I'm like, 'yes, him,' " said his mom, Danitra McDade-Williams.

Danitra got the call three days after Kaden was born and for her, it was somewhat of a surprise.
