The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, in collaboration with the Sickle Cell Committee at AIIMS Raipur, successfully organized a comprehensive Sickle Cell Awareness Program focused on the impact of sickle cell disease on women’s and maternal health.
The program was graced by Chief Guest Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Raipur, who appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment towards strengthening sickle cell care, consultation, screening, and counselling services. He also encouraged the establishment of a dedicated integrated Sickle Cell Clinic on Thursdays to facilitate multidisciplinary care for patients under one roof.
Dr Eli Mohapatra, Dean Academics and Chairperson of the Sickle Cell Committee, highlighted the growing need for awareness, early screening, timely diagnosis, and counselling to effectively address the burden of sickle cell disease in Central India.
