William’s journey with sickle cell disease began with a newborn screening and early diagnosis.
Now, at 12 years old, William’s regular checkups, pain management and support from his family and care team ensure his sickle cell doesn’t slow him down—especially when it’s time to hit the baseball field. As shortstop for his little league team, William stays prepared by keeping hydrated and bundling up to stay warm during chilly games.
Beyond baseball, William’s passion shines through in his love for video games, hanging out with friends and collecting shoes. He also spends his time helping others going through health challenges. All year, William gathers pop tabs from soda cans to donate to Ronald McDonald House each September, which allows families to continue staying nearby while their children receive medical care.
