MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Summer means more time outdoors, family vacations and fun activities, but for children living with sickle cell disease, hot temperatures, dehydration and other seasonal factors can increase the risk of serious complications.

Dr. Felicia Wilson, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist with USA Health, joined WKRG to explain what sickle cell disease is and how the heat can play a role.
