The placebo-controlled phase 1b CROSSWALK-a trial was an evaluation of crovalimab for control of acute vaso-occlusive episodes (VOEs) in sickle cell disease (SCD). Its international team of investigators, led by Satheesh Chonat, MD, of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, released their findings at the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2026 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden. The findings were presented on site by Dr. Chonat.
The primary focus of the investigation by Dr. Chonat and colleagues was safety, and in the study abstract published online for the Congress, they summarized that “Crova [crovalimab] was well tolerated in pts [patients] with SCD hospitalized for acute uncomplicated VOEs, with no new safety signals identified.”
