This is the first person in Louisiana to be cured of sickle cell disease using gene therapy

Daniel Cressy was diagnosed with sickle cell disease as a child. Thanks to a newly approved gene therapy, on May 22, Cressy left the hospital with a new diagnosis: “Functionally cured.”
