Eagle Scout with sickle cell makes comfort kits for families

RICHMOND, Va. — A local Eagle Scout living with sickle cell anemia is giving back to families affected by the same illness he and his father share.

Jayden Woodson created comfort kits for parents whose children are receiving treatment for the blood disorder as part of his Eagle Scout project.

This week, he handed out the care packages at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

Eagle Scout Jayden Woodson, who has sickle cell anemia, made comfort kits for parents of children being treated for the disease.

"When someone is going through a hard time, getting a care package shows them that other people care about them. Even something small can make a big difference and brighten someone's day," Woodson said.

The kits included snacks, cozy socks, stress balls, personal hygiene items and encouraging notes.

Woodson and his father both live with sickle cell anemia.
